Taken from Ledoux's 'L'Architecture Consideree' 1804, this striking image shows a reflection of the Besanon auditorium in the pupil of a human eye. This etching, probably by Ledox himself, is an embodiment of his concept of all architecture as a spectacle of which the architect is both author and spectator. Soane shared his interest in
